Eryk Sun added the comment: To me the error message is in the model of a source -> destination operation, in which the arrow indicates the operation's information flow (e.g. of the target path or inode number) from the source file to the destination file. I've never viewed it superficially as just an ordering of parameter1 -> parameter2.
