Terry J. Reedy added the comment: A crash is when Python stops without a traceback, even when run with somewhere for a traceback to go. However, I regard it as a bug for IDLE to stop because of a problem in a user.cfg file. I am not re-opening because this appears to be a duplicate of #11437, which had the same error message with 'up' instead of 'Alt'.
