Brett Cannon added the comment: As mentioned, this issue is fixed in Python 3.6 by exposing os.DirEntry which is just a direct import of what is in the posix module (which is the same thing as the nt module; name changes depending on the OS so just ignore the posix/nt part of all of this). And we can't backport the addition to the os module as that would break backwards-compatibility in a bug fix release. So I'm closing this as out of date.
