To be honest the way setup.py looks for libraries could use some attention, the current methods is a bit too magical to my taste. It is also too easy to accidentally depend on libraries you don't want to rely on (I have to create CPython builds for internal redistribution on a separate VM to avoid relying on HomeBrew). P.S.
