STINNER Victor added the comment: About the "add block=False parameter to os.urandom()" part of the issue title: I don't really care of the exact API. It can be a new function. The parameter can be named differently. The idea is to give access to users to Linux non-blocking /dev/urandom, and do something helpful for users on platforms without non-blocing urandom.
