Tim Golden added the comment: And, just to be clear to Serhiy who I know doesn't use Windows, os.access really is a worthless function in its present form: worse, even, because it can be misleading. I have a long-standing patch to convert it to use AccessCheck but I've never quite had the guts to commit it because I fear the breakage would be too great.
