Vinay Sajip added the comment: The default parameters for backupCount and maxBytes are both shown as 0.
The first paragraph ends with "By default, the file grows indefinitely." The second paragraph says, "If backupCount is non-zero, the system will save old log files by appending the extensions ‘.1’, ‘.2’".
