Thomas Kember added the comment: Thanks, I backed that file on to a memory stick and deleted it. I made a shortcut to the idle batch file on the desktop. When I click on it, Idle comes up fine. What has happened here? What is config-extensions.cfg for and why has it stopped Idle coming up? And why can Idle work without it? In any case, I am now able to work on my little programs.
