New submission from Sworddragon: The tarfile/zipfile libraries doesn't seem to provide a direct way to specify the compression level. I have now ported my code from subprocess to tarfile/zipfile to achieve platform independency but would be happy if I could also control the compression level. Or is there a special reason not to add this?
