Sounds reasonable to me. Note that it won't remove the special-casing in 
gcmodule.c:

    if (PyGen_CheckExact(op))
        return PyGen_NeedsFinalizing((PyGenObject *)op);
    else
        return op->ob_type->tp_del != NULL;
}
