I just installed MinGW 2.6.2 32-bit on Windows XP. It doesn't accept -mnocygwin and there is no binary "i686-pc-mingw32-gcc" either. It would be great if you could agree on an approach and get this fixed. This impacts a lot of users that want to build extensions on Windows.
