Brett Cannon added the comment: I don't mean for this to sound rude, but this seems like a Cython issue and not one for the stdlib. Can you reproduce the problem without using Cython? The new per-module locking mechanism Antoine prevents this from being a problem normally, so it makes me think Cython is at fault here.
