Terry J. Reedy added the comment: I think discussion of this idea on python-ideas list would be better. There might be some controversy and alternatives presented. With a positive response, a PEP should probably follow with details on a module by module basis. As this stands, this is not really an actionable issue. So yes, I am suggesting closing for the present.
