David Murray added the comment: It has been a while since I looked at the code, but if I remember correctly there is a (somewhat non-obvious) mechanism for assigning priority to handlers, so that you can control the order of application. If I'm right the insort is about that priority, and it also ought to be possible to use that priority to fix the problem. But I remember whatever it was I was looking at as being a bit hard to understand, so I could be way off base (or thinking of some other part of the code base).
