I am slightly puzzled because cp437 is an extended ascii codepage and there *is* a character for 0x80 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Code_page_437 If I add .encode('latin1'), it does not print the pentagon for 0x7e, but does print \x7e to \xff. Someone wrote elsewhere that 3.3 could use cp65001.
