Ok. Maybe you will come up with another alternative that hadn't occurred to me. But I have given this issue quite a bit of thought, considered several alternatives, and felt fortunate to find a solution that preserves backwards compatibility, supports the property decorator syntax, and meshes well with the existing syntax for abstract methods. Perhaps, if you shared your concerns, I could help address them and maybe save you some time.
