Georg Brandl <ge...@python.org> added the comment: Jason, that the dl module requires sizeof(int) == sizeof(char *) does not mean that it (or we) thinks this to be true on every platform. Rather, the module is written in a way that requires this equality, and rather than crashing it does this check beforehand.
