As far as I can see, SIP makes no ABI guarantees between versions, so that's the (unfortunate) side effect. What used to happen in KDE was to require the highest available SIP and PyQt at the time of release. I've upped the requirements for PyKDE4 to the latest SIP and PyQt in KDE's git master a while ago, but I didn't do so in the 4.8 branch because I thought I would need a "go" from the maintainer first: I've emailed Simon, yes, but I didn't get a response. -- Luca Beltrame - KDE Forums team KDE Science supporter GPG key ID: 6E1A4E79
