i really like PyQt4 with all of the features it brings to us. couple of weeks ago i finished application with video playback and PyQt4 provided me great playground. for that particular set up (art exhibition) it probably saved me at least 7-8 hours of work comparing to other solutions i was thinking about.
but. it took me hours of work to finally set it up on ubuntu box. i was firstly trying to do that properly through ubuntu package management system but then finally needed to compile everything. i needed to do that mainly because of phonon support. i use gentoo (where everything is nice and smooth :o)) but had to use ubuntu because it seems that's the default choice for desktop these days. i dream about support where deployment of the PyQt4 apps won't be that painful. hope riverbanking/trolltech/nokia is aware of what kind of problem we have here and that they work on the solutions. unfortunately it seems that just communities around distributions are not capable to solve that properly. i address that to companies behind the framework because easy solutions for the deployment are quite in their interest. (not that it is not in my own selfish interest, too ;)) i'm very thankful for all of the hard work put behind qt/pyqt and i'm sorry i can't contribute more to that development. thanx for listening _______________________________________________ PyQt mailing list [email protected] http://www.riverbankcomputing.com/mailman/listinfo/pyqt
