For this purpose I would suggest to use the open-source version of pymol, provided within the repositories of Xubuntu (14.04 LTS) or Debian 8 testing. Their builds are based on version 1.7.0 or 1.7.2, respectively and with an VRML2 UTF8 export.
Subsequently, I would follow step-wise instructions provided on http://paulbourke.net/miscellaneous/molecular_rp/ http://www.molecularmovies.com/img/pdf_tutorials/MolGraphicsExport.pdf or http://www.ascb.org/3d-print-your-favorite-protein/ Cheers, Norwid On 04/14/2016 07:58 AM, Hagemeister, Fred wrote: > I am hoping to have students be able to 3D-print their molecules for an > assignment (asap), but edu pymol is saying raytracing is not in the edu > version.
