Hi,
Does anyone know of a way to draw a black outline around (or otherwise
highlight) a selection within a molecule while viewed as a surface, with the
outline not dependent on the viewing angle? Specifically, I am annotating
the ribosome (PDB 1VSA) and wish to highlight proteins L22, L23 and L24, but
the colour of the surface is being used to show distance from the exit
tunnel, so I would like to draw a slightly-thicker black outline around
these proteins so that they may be labelled.

I have already tried selecting atoms within X angstroms of the proteins
('select L22Outline, L22 around 5 and not L22' and similar) but I do not get
a continuous line suitable for labelling since the proteins protrude from
the surface and have overhangs that cannot be seen. The only other option I
can think of is to manually add it to an exported PNG image with photoshop,
but I'm hoping there's a more elegant, and less time consuming, option.

Many thanks for any constructive suggestions!

Luke
