Dear PyMOL users,

How do I orient the protein or camera relative to a predefined vector?

The problem is this: I want to define a vector from the center of mass to a residue on the surface of my protein. I would then like to reorient the view (or my protein) to look along this vector. If done right, this should place the selected surface residue to face the viewer.

In fact, I would like to do this for multiple features/residues at once using their sum vector (as described above) to orient the protein/ view such that the largest number of features are in plain view (and not on the 'back' of the protein).

I suppose the solution lies in some manipulation using the information from the get_view/set_view commands, but I haven't found the trick yet.

All suggestions will be highly appreciated.

Thanks,
Thomas
