Right. With TypeScript you have the additional big advantage of types -
the typescript compiler will show you errors earlier and the IDE has
better intellisense. These feature should not be underestimated, they
give you a big boost in productivity and software quality.
Other thing is that he mentioned wanting to write both a web app and
a mobile app, using React with React-Native for the mobile app and
React-Dom for the web may allow him to re-use most of his components
and code.
And if you prefer Angular, you have Ionic which does something similar.
