Greetings, I just did a little benchmark in order to decide which file system was best for storing many files in the same directory:

Unless there is some other reason for it, beacker should probably stop hashing paths. On a side note, could a list admin check if there is anything wrong with my subscription? I can't seem to receive the mails from the list anymore.
