I think that if you need to write 512bytes, it'll write the full 4K. So maybe performance are lower than with true 4K. I have found an post here: http://comments.gmane.org/gmane.os.solaris.opensolaris.zfs/49253 seagate 7200.14 seem to expose true 4K. ----- Mail original ----- De: "Dietmar Maurer" <[email protected]> À: "Alexandre DERUMIER" <[email protected]>, [email protected] Envoyé: Lundi 12 Novembre 2012 12:11:55 Objet: RE: [pve-devel] 4k native drives > I think it's really difficult to find true 4K drives, as windows only support > them > since win8 and win2012. > > > http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2510009/en-us?fr=1 > > > win7 only support 4K drives with 512 emulation. > > > > Maybe they will coming in mass this year ? Why - what would be the advantage? If you write correctly aligned 512e is as fast as 4Kn? Maybe 4Kn can write 4K atomically, while 512e cannot guarantee that?
