On my proxmox host, I have the lvm partition begin at sector 66. So it seem to be misaligned, it should be sector 64. (I don't know how lvm volumes are aligned inside this partition).
Recommandations on rhel6 and win2008 is now alignement on sector 2048 (which is best for ssd, as it's aligned on 1MB sdd cells) # fdisk -l /dev/sda Disk /dev/sda: 72.7 GB, 72746008576 bytes 255 heads, 63 sectors/track, 8844 cylinders Units = cylinders of 16065 * 512 = 8225280 bytes Sector size (logical/physical): 512 bytes / 512 bytes I/O size (minimum/optimal): 512 bytes / 512 bytes Disk identifier: 0x000e4e71 Device Boot Start End Blocks Id System /dev/sda1 * 1 66 523264 83 Linux Partition 1 does not end on cylinder boundary. /dev/sda2 66 8845 70516736 8e Linux LVM ----- Mail original ----- De: "Dietmar Maurer" <[email protected]> À: "Alexandre DERUMIER" <[email protected]> Cc: "Michael Rasmussen" <[email protected]>, [email protected] Envoyé: Lundi 12 Novembre 2012 05:52:59 Objet: RE: [pve-devel] new cache benchmark results > (BTW: Maybe we need to check if default proxmox setup is correctly aligned) AFAIK it is correctly aligned. _______________________________________________ pve-devel mailing list [email protected] http://pve.proxmox.com/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/pve-devel
