We're happy to announce the new LTS release of Puppet Enterprise, version
2019.8. This release provides many new features and enhancements to help
you and your team scale your enterprise while curtailing cost.

Updates include:

   - Upgrade enhancements that speed and simplify upgrades, identify
potential risks, and offer visibility into changes to expect with each
   update.
   - Improved stability with reduced CPU and memory usage needed to run
Puppet, and simplified horizontal scaling, with PuppetDB services installed
   on compilers.
   - Patch management capabilities in the console, which let you view the
patch status for your nodes, filter available patches, and run a pre-filled
task to apply patches to selected nodes.
   - A refreshed console designed to surface common workflows, improve
navigation, and provide a more intuitive and consistent experience.
   - Ability to reuse existing Puppet code to orchestrate tasks and plans,
including a simplified process for including parameters.
   - Scalability improvements to Code Manager with more available modules.

If you’re upgrading from the previous LTS release, there are a lot more
updates in store for you. Check out What's new since PE 2018.1

A note on the version number: We received feedback from some customers that
they expected this LTS release to be version 2020. The PE 2019.8 LTS is the
culmination of the previous non-LTS releases, it’s still on the very stable
Puppet 6 platform, and it does not have breaking changes or backward
compatibility issues. Based on our naming patterns, this release therefore
wasn't suited for a new major version number. We apologize if the version
number creates any confusion. You can find more details about the Puppet
Enterprise lifecycle here
<https://puppet.com/docs/puppet-enterprise/product-support-lifecycle/>. If
you need further clarification, please let us know.

We want your feedback! If you'd like to share your experience with this
release, provide input into planned features, or if you have something to
tell us about anything else important to you, please let us know directly
at peprod...@puppet.com.

Thank you!
