This is what schedules 
<https://puppet.com/docs/puppet/latest/metaparameter.html#schedule> are 
for.  So something like this:

schedule { 'once per calendar day':
  period      => 'daily',
  periodmatch => 'number',
}


mymodule::myresource { 'x':
  schedule => 'once per calendar day',
}

The Schedule resource type has rather more flexibility than just that, and 
also some important caveats, so do read its docs.
