We unfortunately have some modifications to core Puppet providers that are not
upstream. We are working on pull requesting our changes, but we would like to
upgrade to a modern Puppet version in parallel. I was able to monkey patch
Puppet 4.5 without issue by placing the patches in a module, but when using
Puppet 6.6 via Bolt I was not successful after repeated attempts. From my brief
read of the code it appears that their have been some attempts to make monkey
patching more difficult so as to avoid modules modifying core code. Is there a
recommended way to monkey patch modern Puppet? Thanks, Jesse
