export http_proxy="http://your.proxy.server:8080"; export https_proxy="http://your.proxy.server:8080"; This should work; if not, this: https://www.jonathanmedd.net/2013/10/configuring-puppet-conf-to-support-a-proxy-server.html says you can specify http_proxy_host and _port in the puppet.conf as well. If ping work then routing should be ok.
