The gem package provider pretty extensively reads from commands[] and does its own execute calls instead of using the command functions provided. This makes it impossible to create a child provider that points to a different gem command.
Would this be considered a defect worthy of a bugrep, or is the choice to use command function vice commands array a matter of personal preference?
