Hi there, I can absolutely see how this is confusing, let me see if I can help clear it up for you. The open source version of Puppet is currently at version 3.1.0, however Puppet Enterprise (the product stack) is at version 2.7.1 which is based on version 2.7.19 of the open source version of Puppet. Puppet Enterprise is comprised of several projects (Puppet, Facter, MCollective, Puppet Enterprise Console, Cloud Provisioner, etc...), and so its version is entirely decoupled from Puppet's current version (but they're so close in version numbers that it becomes confusing).
