>From http://docs.puppetlabs.com/references/3.0.latest/type.html#cron, it looks like 'ensure => absent' will disable it (remove the crontab entry) and 'ensure => present' will enable it (add the crontab entry). That's a bit stronger than 'enabling'/'disabling' in the strictest sense of the word, though the effect is obviously the same.
