Our intent is to expose this information via APIs that allow for easier
integration with existing systems. In particular, we've been thinking about
supporting the registration of listeners that get notified when nodes are
added or removed from a site. That said, I share your sentiment that this
is not a replacement for monitoring systems; conceptually, I view this
piece of Sites much more as an mild evolution of the existing CA code.
