I made a really bad mistake today by deleting all files below /var/lib/puppet on one of my Puppet masters. (I simply issued a command in the wrong terminal window.) A first analysis showed that all SSL certificates from the clients have gone (puppetca --list --all). However the clients are still connecting and compiling their catalogues without any problems. So I assume the certificates might be cashed somewhere. Is there any way to restore them? Will I run into more problems, e.g. after restarting the master?
