We're not that concerned with warranty as being able to recover from device failure (even with a backup instance) quickly is the primary motivation.
The other option I'm thinking of is pushing the rules from Jenkins to the BigIP instances, but I'd rather have the puppet agent impose the rules instead of an implicit and manual trigger (someone clicking the "build" button.)
