Sure, Debian stable -is- stable, and there is a lot to be said for that. (Ditto for Ubuntu LTS.) The statement was (somewhat rudely) "they aren't outdated, go here and see". 2+ years counts as "outdated". Last-major-version and most of a year old is "outdated".
