I don't use OS X, but it is one of the platforms supported by pkgsrc
(see http://www.pkgsrc.org/), and some binary packages are available at
ftp://ftp.netbsd.org/pub/pkgsrc/packages/Darwin/ if you don't want to
build your own.

Puppet doesn't have a "pkgsrc" package provider, but either of the
"openbsd" or "freebsd" package providers will probably be close enough.
