I think I might have misunderstood what puppetrun does. I've interpreted it as puppetrun triggers a remote run of puppet AND that the remote puppet fetches the latest manifests and applies them.
This is not what seems to happen though. As far as I can tell, puppetrun just triggers the remote puppet to apply the manifests it has but not asking the server if there are any changes.
