I knew I should have mentioned all that I tried in my first message but I wanted
to be brief :) "git clone" was actually one of the first things I
tried. This is what I get:

$  git clone git://oppermannen.com/modules/git.git/
Initialized empty Git repository in /usr/local/src/git/.git/
fatal: no matching remote head
fetch-pack from 'git://oppermannen.com/modules/git.git/' failed.

Given the git command reports "empty" or "not a git repository" I made
the assumption
the repo was hosed.

If anyone has the README from the git module and would like to share,
I would appreciate it.
Thanks,
Kent
