What I'm trying to do, is Mark up the session with markers. Everything is
selected right under the edit menu as far as it needs to be. When I press play
after doing control P and control semicolon and try to press down arrow it's
just reading me the window.

Hi Jimmy,
The most important bit of information one needs to be aware of when trying to
edit in Pro Tools (aside from the various settings which I won't mention right
now) is that there needs to be an insertion point in order for the arrow keys
to affect a selected track. when, for example, audio is imported into a
session, it absolutely, categorically does not have an insertion point, even
though the track is technically selected. Providing edit selection follows
track selection (under the Options menu), use Control semicolon or Control P to
move focus to a neighboring track and back again. This will create an insertion
point in the selected track. From that point on, the arrows will select the
edit range not only in the timeline ruler but also in the selected track. If
you don't have a neighboring track, create a dummy track just for the purpose
of moving to it. You can also deselect the track and select it again. That
should also do it, it's just that two quick keystrokes are much faster.
HTH,
Slau

For some reason, using the up-and-down arrow keys to drop a selection does not
work. When I play a song, and press down arrow, it is reading me the edit
window. I do not know why this is happening. Could someone please suggest
something. I rolled my system back to Mojave after a catastrophic install of
Catalina. Maybe I missed something in the pro tools set up.
