You mention pro tools presets, If you are only using the presets and not taking 
the time to dial in things like EQ  and etc Then I am not sure recommending new 
plug ins will do the trick. Especially with EQ plug ins presets are a rough 
estimation at best as there is no way to know what the source will sound like 
since everyone is using different gear to capture it.   Compression presets may 
get you a little closer in the ballpark but you may still need to adjust things 
like the threshold or ratio to dial it in a bit. I’d recommend instead of 
spending money in search of better presets to spend some time instead and get 
more similar with the basics of the tools you are having trouble with. If I 
misunderstood the question and you aren’t mostly relying on presets, I 
apologize.
