Drum loops are a pain in th eass to use with pro tools put bluntly. The only
way to get loops to snap to tempo is dragging into the project from the clip
list, dragging into the project from finder and using the workspace browser.
None of these were particularly efficient when pro tools was my daily driver
so i went back to using reaper on the mac for my DAW. Workspace browser
improved in version 11 i believe, but whether or not it got more efficient,i
can’t say as i haven’t messed with PT a whole lot lately. If you are
attempting to import midi loops to eventually route to single hits and convert
to audio, i imagine the same complications of importing loops apply here, but i
am not a midi guy so can’t say for certain. Most on this list are keyboard
players who will use a DRUM Soft Synth of some sort and play the parts out on
the keyboard and then quantize/edit after and then convert to audio.
