Steve, If you're soloing a track that is assigned to a bus feeding an auxiliary input, soloing the audio track will mute the aux track. What you need to do is solo safe the aux track so that the soloing of other tracks doesn't mute the aux track. Command-click the solo button of the aux input and it will indicate that it is safe.
