 If it runs ES 2.1 it almost certainly will run Red Hat 8 or 9.  The ES 
line tends to be fairly out of date for drivers support.  If you aren't 
use one of the quarterly update cdrom.  You're basicly running Red Hat 
7.2.  It which case you're woefully out of date.

Plenty. I run two production servers on ProLiant DL380 G3, with dual
   

Xeons. One is an Oracle 9i Database server and a Zope/Plone content
management server. The other is a JBOSS (java) server and a remote
management machine. Both are running Redhat ES 2.1 and both run very well.
