We are currently setting up a server to specifically act as a CGI server for customers. Anyways, the concern came up today that users are able to write to the /tmp directory. Apparently, the company wants to discourage users from writing to the /tmp directory in concerns over partition space.
I was wondering what other people have done to address this issue. What I have thought of doing is having tmpwatch run from root's cron every hour to erase newly created files or mroe likely doing a straight erase of /tmp and /var/tmp, because of such scripts, like bulletin boards, that could be accessed constantly and would fail thru the cracks of tmpwatch.
On the desktop - MacOS X In the server room - Linux Windows? In the trash?
