Hummm, interesting that killing the screensaver worked for you. I tried that
twice now and it did not help. So far the only thing I can do to recover is
reboot. I wonder if this is a kernel bug or some kind of weird screensaver bug.

I am leaning towards a kernel but because I do not think a userspace program
should be able to do things like this but...

I guess it is time to search bugzilla.
