Yes, there is a firewall generator that does a firewall script human-readable. Search 
for at freshmeat about fwgen: there is also a website link where you can generate a 
iptables script on line.

I've learned a lot just inspected the files generated by this app. Every step is 
commented.

This is the best sugestion i can send you right now, and, of course, ipfilter website.
