I noticed this a few weeks ago on my machine. I currently have 17 running (that I can count), with the worse taking up 13% of memory, followed by 9%, and down. I tried killing a few. NOT GOOD! Seemed that one ran the toolbar, the desktop icon, the background, etc. I gave up...... I did notice that as they lived for a while, they took up less memory (it seemed).
