I have a Red Hat 8.0 box with updates that is giving me fits. Whenever I try to send mail locally (within the system), it doesn't go through.
When I use the '/bin/mail' command with the -v (verbose) option, it appears that mail is trying to connect to localhost.com:
>>[EMAIL PROTECTED] root]# mail -s test craig -v >>test >>. >>Cc: >>craig... Connecting to localhost.com. via relay...
This is where it all stops. On all other Red Hat 8.0 boxes that I have, the same command connects to "localhost.localdomain. via relay..." (instead of localhost.com) and everything works as it should.
Can anyone point me in a useful direction?
I have removed the "search com" line from /etc/resolve.conf and I've played with adding "127.0.0.1 localhost.com" to /etc/hosts to 'fool' the mail program, but that didn't work either.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated at this point.
Thank you.
